In my studio in London, I split my time between portraits and still lifes, despite the different subject matter, my paintings all have a common theme which is primarily colour and design. I have been studying colour for several years now, and I’m very interested in the affects it has on the human brain and the relationships colours have with one another. In my paintings I try to recreate my subject as accurately as possible while focusing on elements that may not have been appreciated or noticed in real life, I want every inch of the canvas to be of interest whether it be by colour, pattern or brush stroke but at the same time not to loose focus on the main event. Everything must work together to capture your eye from across the room but hold it as you come closer.
