ROBERT MEE

Throughout the summer I travel in our campervan with my wife around France, loaded up with art materials ready for when inspiration presents itself.
I prefer to paint en plein air to capture the mood and atmosphere. I do regularly re paint the scenes I find on my travels in my studio, but although they may appear more accomplished and detailed to some, nearly always do not have the same spontaneous characteristics of the works completed outdoors. This is because when painting outdoors you are taking in everything; light, sounds, warmth of the French sunshine, even the people who stopped to take a look and wish you ‘bon courage’.
I taught myself to paint by studying masters that inspired me, all of which were great ambassadors of painting out doors. I share my knowledge through my YouTube channel and the workshops I run here in France and the UK.
which has current photos and information about my travels. Travel has been reduced this year because of restrictions and we are renovating a old farmhouse.
The photos attached are from a painting last week at Laroquebrou, France.
11″x15″ watercolour.
