LUCIANO CIAN

Born in São Paulo and currently living and working in Rio de Janeiro, he began with oil painting technique at the age 18. His production covers painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, video and urban intervention. Nowadays his production is focused on drawing with giclée digital prints. Different series where he presents, through gestural traits, the strength of contemporary women – mixing different ethnicities and colors. In 2008 he founded the Collective Fuso (Cian + Kjá), that consists in interactions between several platforms and artistic languages – the collective had its first work honored with the urban interference local prize in 2008. He worked in exhibitions in Brazil and abroad: MuBE Museu Brasileiro da Escultura – SP, CCJF Centro Cultural Justiça Federal – RJ, Parque Lage – RJ, Espace L – Geneva – Switzerland, Galeria Colecionador Contemporâneo – RJ, IED Istituto Europeu di Design – SP, Galeria Pretos Novos de Arte Contemporânea – RJ, Museu de Imagens do Inconsciente – RJ, among others.

This series immerses in the diversity of the races, seeking to explore these different ethnicities through colors, traces and visual elements through gestural traits, the strength of contemporary women – mixing different ethnics and colors. 
The Brazilian population is quite mixed. This was due to the mixture of different human groups that happened in the country. There are countless races that favored the formation of the Brazilian people. The main groups were indigenous peoples, Africans, European and Asian immigrants. Inspired by the book O Povo Brasileiro – work of the Brazilian anthropologist Darcy Ribeiro, launched in 1995.
