Hello, I am Tripper Dungan. I paint pictures that I hope will make you laugh and feel happy. It’s a simple thing but I decided a long time ago that’s what I wanted to do.
I tend to make pictures that lean towards the absurd. It’s not unheard of that I’d make a picture of a Sasquatch listening to music on his Walkman eating a taco that has a mustache, or a wiener dog walking a hotdog on a leash. I might even paint a picture of a day old hobo donut riding the rails, I might.
I find inspiration in old cartoons from the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s, as well as victorian taxidermy, and pretty much anything that personifies or anthropomorphizes with humor. I’m also influenced by Op Art and psychedelic patterns. Oh and houndstooth, I dig houndstooth.
I hope you enjoy what I have painted; I truly do. I know the cool thing is to not give a rip what people think of your art, but I look at it as a way to connect, I look at it as a gift, I look at it as the start to the conversation that began our friendship.
