Daniel Roozendaal is an Utrecht born, raised and based illustrative artist. He successfully graduated in 2009 with a BFA in illustration at Utrecht Art academy. From that moment on he has been working on both autonomous as well as applied projects. He mostly starts out in an analogue way, to combine that with digital editing in a later stage. His autonomous projects work as soil for his applied work.
Aesthetically Daniël searches for a contrast between geometric and organic shapes, and tries to find a balance between abstraction and recognisability. Although having a strong focus on portraits, he also creates abstract work from time to time. More recently other figurative work is coming (back) into play as wel.
These are examples of recent work, with a.o. a 2020 selfportrait, a portrait of the late Maradona and abstract interpretations of classic landscape paintings.
