Rabarama focuses her research on the human being and the meaning of existence, trying to answer the fateful question “what is the meaning of life?”. It is therefore a universal topic, in which the user can find himself and undertake a dialogue directly with the works. The human forms, the reflective and yogic poses, the archetypal symbols present on the epidermis of each Rabarama sculpture tell us about a journey made up of questions and possible answers. The incessant journey that transcends the here and now, points to a spiritual elevation capable of welcoming human beings, as small particles of energy, into a cosmic whole.
At the beginning of her career, the humanoids of Rabarama presented mainly geometric patterns, embedding multicolored puzzles on the skin of each creature, rather than honeycombs or labyrinths. Each piece is a metaphor for that complex of biological cells that make up the human being, defining what it is and, in this first period of research, also what it will be. Genetics is seen as a prison, the human body as a biological computer programmed for predetermination, capable of following a single and ineluctable destiny. The bronze creatures of Rabarama reflect on their condition, they share their pain with the user, but also their hope of being able to escape from this conditioning.
In a continuous evolution of thought, enriched by studies, trips to countries with millenary histories and by contact with cultures and religions with a deep link with the esoteric, the artist’s poetics and reflection are profoundly distorted. Where once there was the idea that destiny was already written and impossible to change, now the sculptures bring to the skin stories of the rediscovery of their own being, of the energy that makes up the human soul and of the relationship with the Universe. Actions, thoughts and the achievement of a new inner awareness give the possibility to choose and modify one’s path, exploiting that genetic matrix seen in the beginning as a tyrant. The symbols linked to the Runes, to the philosophy of the I Ching, the references to numerology and esoteric disciplines linked to the angels and to a deeper understanding of the spirit guide the user in this catharsis, where the fulcrum is to discover and know one’s own inner self.
The light deriving from spiritual energy will then be able to go out, creating close relationships both between other human beings and between the individual, seen as a particle, and the whole, in a constant flow of energy that never ends. The flow of this primordial power gives hope for the future and makes it possible to answer the initial question.
