Inspired by the darkest part of the fairy tale worlds, Yuriko seeks to combine beauty and innocence with darkness. Her own fight against an anxiety disorder has led her to express those fears that afflict the human mind and make us feel like children again. Her work is a constant combination of these fears and worries with details of objects and ideas that obsess her and bring her joy; for which the moths and dolls are just some of the repetitive elements in her work. Her illustrations are a reflection and constant search for acceptance and overcoming of all those moments full of deep sadness and fear; which most of us get to go through.
