SORAIA DOMINGOS

Soraia Domingos is a Portuguese artist, graduated in Art and Heritage Sciences from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Lisbon University. She loves to use and explore unconventional materials and in an attempt to combine art with a more sustainable practice, she develops her artworks using different materials, creating art pieces that combine the painting with reuse of waste materials. In the most recent artworks, she reused parts and components of telecommunications equipment’s from a museological reserve that she saved from the junkyard.

-“Connections”, 60 x 80 cm, acrylic on canvas with application of grout and telecommunications equipment components in metal, glass and plastic (telephone parts, connection cables, fuses and various components);
-“Green Light Circuit”, 40 x 50 cm, acrylic on canvas with application of telecommunications equipment components in metal, glass and plastic (circuit boards, connection cables, fuses and other components);
-“Metal Yard”, 50 x 60 cm, acrylic on canvas with application of telecommunications equipment components in metal, glass and plastic (circuit boards, MTF cushion, telephone exchange parts and other components).
-“The City Gears”, 200 x 150 cm, acrylic on canvas with application of gold leaf and pieces of telecommunications equipment in metal, glass, porcelain and plastic  (screws, telephone exchange parts, telegraph parts, sprockets, lamps, valves, fuses and other components);
-“Mechanical Metamorphosis”, 80 x 40 cm, acrylic on canvas with application of telecommunications equipment components in metal, glass and plastic (valves, telephone dialer, switch keys, sprockets and other components);
