Multidisciplinary artist born in Madrid. Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Malaga. Her work symbolises melancholic and tragic emotions through psychological portraiture, creating surreal, strange and disturbing scenarios. The paintings are based on images that appear before us in the media and in real life, the cinema, female scenes from mythology, allegories, religion and muses, mainly fashion icons, images that she appropriates to bring them to portraits with high sensitive expression transmitting an attractive and personal beauty. Her media range from oil paintings, watercolours, inks, opening a colourful journey through memories. Her palette is mainly blue and violet, an atmosphere of secrets, taking the viewer through moments of her life, thoughts and emotions. Gestural strokes and non-correction are fundamental to her work. Sonja’s melancholic works question your existence, bringing you closer to explore the hidden stories within her subtle and fragile expressions. Her inspiration comes from medieval art, Renaissance and Baroque, Mannerism, Symbolism, Expressionism mainly. His exhibition career ranges from solo and group exhibitions at national and international level since 2011, her work ranges from stenographic, costume design, drawing and painting.
