“There is no beginning, no end – just void, thought and form”.
This statement comes closest to the way I can describe my work. From the void, I have the thoughts of what I would like to create, document or record – bits and pieces of the experiences of my journey through life. From the thoughts, I find the form to visualize in the best way I can those experiences. The form is coloured and shaped by the spiritual energy from the void – I say this. because I try very hard to paint from the spirit, rather than illustrate. Painting this way is sometimes risky, but sometimes from those accidents come new and exciting directions.
I love African mythology, dance and motifs and these feature a lot in my work. I find it necessary sometimes ( a sort of self-exorcism) to try the visualize strong emotional states. that features a lot in my work as well. I just try to make my vision more beautiful and spiritual everyday. That journey continues…..
