Originally from the Netherlands, but currently based in Germany, I’m a visual artist, working primarily in painting.
I worked in Fashion Design & Styling for several years, before fully concentrating on developing my painting skills and techniques, both figurative and abstract.
My work is about the beauty and strangeness I find in the concept of contrast.
I’m inspired by imperfections in everyday life. Unusual and unforeseen fragments around me.
Clashing colours, mismatched textures or a song that skips a beat.
I distill them from their surroundings by taking photographs and take note of the details. These fragments of aesthetic are translated into abstract paintings and digital collages and are the ongoing pace in my art.
I mix transparent and opaque, dark and light layers of colours with graphic and organic forms; I carefully pile them on top of each other.
I explore the interaction and confrontation coming from the off-balance in depth.
My love for textile patterns and textures sparks my visual process and creates hints of weaving an amorphous rhythm with paint.
My work has been exhibited, solo or as part of group exhibitions around the world and is featured in various online and printed publications.
