EMMA LOIZIDES

I am a self-taught artist from London and I enjoy painting candy coloured street scenes and the energetic urban landscape. Having always lived in the city, I’m drawn towards architecture

And love experimenting with colour, I find it interesting how different colours effect human emotions.

After Studying Spanish at university and spending years working in banking, i admired the skyline of the city and began painting again. I often take out the people and cars as i like the quiet of early morning and the possibilities the new day may bring. My paintings of idealized landscapes are about escapism and hope to create a moment of calm capturing the peace in the early hours of sunrise

I spent a few years living in Vegas which has influenced my work.  I had fun travelling the west coast of America and beaches, sunsets and palm trees also feature in my paintings often. Ideas are usually taken from places I am drawn towards; I feel inspired and want to re-create the atmosphere with paint. I also love Americana and take inspiration from artists Edward Hopper and Wayne Thiebaud.

I now have a studio in London and paint the skyline and streets of London. I create happy uplifting works taking the viewer on an uplifting journey around the streets of London and faraway places including Vegas, New York, and Hollywood.
