“As an adopted Brummie, I use my camera to explore the city. I photograph the everyday. Where people live.
Documenting the city as it blasts through a period of rapid change is pretty fun.
The late Phyllis Nicklin, a Geography tutor at the University of Birmingham did the same. She photographed the city as it emerged from WWII, taking images of everyday streets and buildings. Old and new. She created a unique record of the post war history of our city.
I’d love to be able to achieve what Phyllis did and hope my photographs give viewers a taste of the enjoyment it brings me to take them on my wanders. The best bit about sharing them is when people spot somewhere they know and share a story about living there or getting into trouble there as a kid! Brum is a brilliant city full of brilliant people.”
