Beauty in mundanity has always been a main source of inspiration for myself as an artist. My work focuses on the everyday overlooked scenes and elements that form the character of the environments in which we inhabit.
Part of my practice is to observe and document my surroundings, especially when traveling to new places. Making note of commonalities and repetitions in signage, architecture, infrastructure even the mannerisms of the local residents. I then try to recreate these sights in my work. To translate that sense of observation and appreciation I felt at that moment in time.
Using my preferred media of watercolour and line work to create artwork that is familiar and nostalgic to those who view it.
