My latest series is titled, “Fruiting Bodies” and is focused upon people, their local environments, and the the ideas of progress. For the series, I have traveled to New Orleans, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, London, Copenhagen, Los Angeles, and other cities to capture source imagery. Often I use a helicopter, crane, or other way photograph images from an elevated position. I never use a drone or other digital tool for this; always in person.
The paintings tap into my reponses of simultaneous joy and terror. For the colours, and compositions, I use black and white reference photos. The colors arise as I am painting and I do not have a set plan ahead of time.
