Daina Higgins is a painter whose work has focused on place. She is interested in the visual and cultural identity of urban sites in the American Northeast and her emotional and perceptual response to these specific places. Higgins employs a wide variety of materials and techniques including spray paint, oil, acrylic, and gouache. Recently, in her series Letters to Home, her focus has shifted to an exploration of displacement and migration stemming from her family history and how these experiences influence personal memories.
