DEBORAH JONES

My Brazil collection is inspired by my traveling the coast of Brazil, the tropical natural world I found there was breathtaking and I have built a collection of works from the images and photography that I collected. I have so many ideas going forward. I love to work with 24ct gold, I feel it brings a decadence to my work mixed with elements of design, I keep my work original and unique with a mix of contemporary and fine art.

My love of painting koi comes from spending days in the forest and fishing with my son. There is a beautiful private lake where we go and beside it sits a carp pond where we feed them while we fish. I’m in the forest everyday.. My collections are all about the places that I go to and that I have been.

My 24ct gold birds on birchwood created for my solo show at The Hyde Gallery in London, W4

The Flight of Salvador – acrylic botanical work and oil painted bird on birchwood on 24ct gold leaf. I have eight birds in my collection which are between The Hyde Gallery and Knightsbridge Fine Art.

Nirvana 1 – My recent show of works at The Women’s University Club in Mayfair. I was invited by the Yaw Mark Nkansah – Amoyaw, the nephew of The King of Ashanti – Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.  To show my work for an evening celebrating the King’s Silver Jubilee. I took 4 gold birds and 2 oil painted carp, which were chosen by The Kings nephew.

Nirvana triptych. – my largest painting to date. I wanted to create a scene of tranquility for The Other Art Fair in London Oct 2023. I wanted a statement piece that flowed across three panels to create one large painting but could also be sold as individual pieces. The artwork was also shown at my solo show in London and has been featured in Suboart Magazine Aug 2023.

The Esoteric Pond. This painting was my feature piece for The Other Art Fair in Oct 2022 with Saatchi Art. My work was spotted by the new gallery owner Luda Hyde who then invited me to be a part of The Hyde Gallery – one of my favourite oil paintings.

Enchanted Water – my first commission for The Hyde Gallery.

I Saw You First. This piece is about my arrival in the pitch black in the Pantanal. I like to tell a story with my artwork and I wanted to depict the thrill and fear of what I felt when I arrived and knew what was out there quietly watching me. I like to mix mediums when painting, this gives different effects for parts of the painting to stand out more than others. The jaguar is in acrylic and the butterflies and flowers are in oil to make the jaguar sit back hiding.
