ED PUELLA

I’m a photographer by trade, but decided to try my hand at painting when I was 29.

I immediately fell in love with it. Unlike photography, painting and drawing allow me to more easily portray not just what’s directly in front of me, but memories and feelings too, which are what I try to capture in my work more so than a perfect likeness.

I make art for the same reason I read books, watch TV shows, or play video games – to be temporarily transported to a different world where I can experience whatever I’m longing for at the time. Sometimes that’s a sense of adventure, or coziness, or maybe revisiting how I felt during a particular time of my life.

I’m a bit of a daydreamer, so painting goes hand in hand with that.
