“Arnaud Martin presents himself as a self-taught painter, anarchist. He is interested in nihilism, expressionism, animism and melancholy.
He lives in Maisons-Alfort, near Paris, so close to the center of activity and at the same time so far from the artistic circles that sit in the aptly named capital of the arts.
Arnaud has long created a unique artistic work which over the years has acquired the identity of a personal mythography, in the sense of a targeted adaptation of a social and anti-social character.
His figures appear as the phantoms of a dialectic that exist by changing place and body, becoming human or animal. They aim to become something unknown, one in between. Arnaud seeks man, strangely not among men but among the obscure ancestral symbols which inhabit his paintings. ” YANNIS LIVADAS (poet)
