I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at S.U.N.Y Albany where I studied painting and havebeen a graphic designer for over 25 years which has also influenced my work. I have been educated in printmaking, ceramics and various other art disciplines, which add to my knowledge base.
The genesis of my return to painting came when my 13 year old daughter at the time, was studying life sciences under a microscope and then again 4 years later, we came upon the cyanotype. She was the inspiration that helped me move through very difficult moments as I retreated into my studio for months. I am staying put here with cyanotypes because the medium is endless, graphic and vastly unexplored and few combine it with other mediums.
My travels have deeply influenced my art and in this series are the basis for each piece. The aggregation of these images from my travels fed me my content. I started noticing a repetitive, visual thread with regard to certain images in nature and in architecture.
I was accepted into Saatchi’s “The Other Art Fair” at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and Downtown Los Angeles in 2018 and ever since that moment, I have been participating in group shows and active in the Los Angeles artist community. In addition to my painting, I am an art advocate supporting local public schools in greater Los Angeles and have directed curriculum based school-wide art shows and in-class education.
I have been selected by Arts for LA and The LA County Arts Education Collective to participate in their Fellowship Programs to ensure that Title One Schools not only receive quality arts education but equal arts education. Painting is my soul and advocacy is my mission.
