I am Katherine Akmulun, illustrator from Moscow, Russia.
I draw my illustrations with ballpoint pens in the smallest sketchbook format. For me, a sketchbook is not a book for quick sketches and training, for me it is a way to experiment. I use a variety of materials and drawing techniques, including duct tape and plastic sheets, to get the effect I want. In my work, I raise various issues and try to tell a long and interesting story using just one spread.
Reading the book, we often forget that not only we consider and evaluate the story told by the author, but the story looks back at us, the characters in this story are watching us intently from the pages of the book, only they can see our real face.
