My name is Brendan Flesher. I am a photographer who uses analog cameras and film as a medium. I originally from Northern California and am currently doing my MA in Global History in Germany.
Although I have quite a few minor projects happening simultaneously, one such project that comes to mind is my ongoing work to capture the region of Plumas County, California. This area is fairly unknown compared to places like Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and the Redwoods, yet it is undoubtedly beautiful. It is home to a national park, massive forests, countless alpine valleys, high desert, and a dozen or so quiet communities. The images that I have shared were taken in the vicinity over the past couple years (feel free to remove the film borders if necessary).
One of my most recent images was taken in the aftermath of the destructive Dixie Fire. This fire burnt most of the county and ravaged the town of Greenville, California, leaving but a few buildings standing.Even in times of disaster, I find this area to be absolutely remarkable. I hope to express this feeling through my work, as describing the area through words tends to be insufficient.Â
