JAMIE KETTLE

For a long period I’ve been working in a pure abstract form, using varied mark-making and explorations into colour which I felt moved me at the time, alongside heavily textured sections to achieve that depth I’m always striving for. These earlier works had no prior end goal; it all began with only a rough palette and finished when I felt they could breathe on their own.

Although, I have strayed into using subject matter again more recently, but only on a very rough basis. This has been in the form of cloudscapes. Attempting to stay in the abstract realm whilst depicting an element of realism is a gap I’m trying to bridge at the moment, and really enjoying it!
