CatDogville paints using the touch screen on a high definition tablet without losing the great humanity that chartacterises her work. She creates images that have a painterly touch as well as a dramatic one, conveying a certain darkness and mystery. Born in the Nethelands in 1950, the artist currently lives in Sweden.
Drawing on a computer was something she always found exciting and fascinating. In the eighties she had her first exhibition with computer-drawings. And she has been using the computer to make sketches and designs for her paintings, already since she started drawing.
Discovering to draw/paint on an iPad was very interesting, so enjoyable that she feels totally free.

Finding out that the surface of an iPad is hard and solid: she could paint with a pencil !
Mostly her work starts with a photograph she makes herselves. A subject that touches her can inspire her to make a fast sketch. Then she can see if it is interesting to go on with.
The photographic ellement is usually just a part of the composition.
She has trouble to draw out of my head. This mentioned, she leaves the picture alone and uses her sketch to start with a new work.
The sense of light, the mood, the colours, the feeling of a painting does not come easily: It appears by working, experience and chance and every day. That is for her a statement.
