These works are from two related series titled The Machine Stops and Antimatter. The photographs were taken in the Painted Desert in Arizona as well as in and around Berlin, Germany. They were then printed large-scale as black and white images onto canvas. Finally they were worked into with oil paint, creating works that are both photographs and paintings with blurred boundaries between the two mediums.
