Rick J. Delanty is a Californian by birth and in spirit, finding in this state a love for nature and wonder of Creation which he has continued to explore in his colorful and expressive oil and acrylic landscape paintings. Rick is a national award-winning artist in plein air competitions around the West, and in exhibitions across the United States, including the California Art Club’s Gold Medal show.
Selected awards from the past two-and-a-half years include Plein Air Finalist in the Art Renewal Center’s 15th Salon, 2021; Finalist, Gateway International Painting Competition, both July and April of 2020; Best Impressionism Award, NOAPS “Best Of America Small Paintings,” 2020; Finalist, Boldbrush International Painting Competition, February 2020; Finalist, Gateway International, December 2019; Best Acrylic, Plein Air Salon international, November 2019; Artistic Excellence Award, Honorable Mention, Southwest Art Magazine, October 2019; and the Holbein Award of Excellence in Landscape Painting, International Society of Acrylic Painters, August 2018.
Rick has practiced his craft professionally over forty years, painting from Big Sur to Niagara Falls, and teaching and demonstrating in a variety of venues. In 2019 he was selected for the faculty of the National Plein Air Convention. Delanty paintings are in the permanent collections of two prominent museums, with twenty originals in one of the largest private collections of California art in the nation. Feature articles concerning his work have appeared in Plein Air and Southwest Art magazines, as well as American Art Collector, and Fine Art Connoisseur.
His artworks are included in several books, among them; Painting California, Seascapes and Beach Towns, by Jean Stern and Molly Siple; Painting In Acrylics, The Indispensable Guide, by Lorena Kloosterboer; and A California Woman’s Story, by Joan Irvine Smith and the Irvine Museum.
The artist is currently writing a book featuring his body of artworks and inspirational writings, entitled Beauty Unites Us, with foreword by Jean Stern.
Rick is a Signature Member of the Pacific Rim Institute of Marine Artists, Signature member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, Signature Member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Assn., and Signature Member of The American Impressionist Society, as well as an Artist member of the California Art Club. He is represented by one of the nation’s top galleries, Mission Fine Art in Utah.
