DARIYA KANTI

In my works, I combine two artistic genres: figurative art and surrealism.

I have always been attracted by the human body, the more I study it, the more incredible and interesting it appears to me.

I discovered figurative art much later, during the years of study at the art academy. And that’s when I started trying to combine this genre with surrealism. Which has been in my life since childhood. At a very early age, my mother introduced me to the paintings of Raphael and Dali, these two completely different artists made an indelible impression on me.

I try to cover various topics that interest me. Such as femininity and the role of women in the modern world, ethnicity and ecology.

I like the idea of uniting the ethnic layers of different cultures. Using items related to the culture of Central Asia (Uzbekistan) and Asia (Japan) .

As well as the union of all topics of interest to me on one canvas. Despite the extensive themes in my art, which are intertwined, the central and main object is a woman. Her fortitude and femininity. Since I am from Uzbekistan, I know firsthand how it’s to defend my right to vote and the elementary right to wear clothes that i like. Unfortunately, to this day, women in Uzbekistan have to endure an incorrect and humiliating attitude towards themselves on the part of society.

Feminism is a central theme in my work. To reveal this social topic, I use a not-so-straightforward message. It’s more of a narrative. I fundamentally avoid scenes of violence, as well as open appeals. My goal is to show the strength and beauty of women who, despite being dominated by others, whether it be society or family members, have the willpower and fortitude to be true to themselves and defend their rights. Kind of warrior woman.
