My artwork takes major influence from the Dutch Golden Age and the Italian baroque masters, particularly the genres of vanitas and memento mori. I use modern materials and subject matter, often drawing on themes of war, climate change, and excess consumption as well as the fragility of human life. I am very much a traditionalist in my practice, building on generations of knowledge to reach a high degree of finish in my work, attempting to harness a little bit of the universal human truths that transcend time.
