The painter David Monllor (born 1987) lives and works in Schönenwerd, Solothurn.
In his early childhood, he discovered his passion and fascination for figurative painting. At the age of twelve, he first came into contact with the graffiti subculture, which had a lasting influence on his work. The contacts made in the urban art scene enable him to travel and design walls at home and abroad. Followed by solo and group exhibitions in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France and the USA.
As an autodidact, David Monllor develops and perfects his techniques with the spray can and oil. From 2013 he dedicated himself to oil painting full-time, which resulted in a natural shift of his work from the wall to the canvas.
In his current cycle of works, Mundane, he documents everyday life and home. The focus is on inconspicuous snapshots of urban scenes and landscapes.
