MARINA RENEE-CEMMICK

Marina Renée-Cemmick’s paintings and drawings look at our relationship with both inner and outer spaces, those that are private and public. Through a process of fragmentation and re-assemblage, she uses figures and landscapes in a collaged layering of imagery that often alludes to a narrative of personal or collective healing, in a multitude of forms. The human body is a central focus, and is used to reveal tension between dualities; vulnerability and strength, beauty and the grotesque, sorrow and joy.

Marina is interested in paint and uses multiple techniques to produce visceral and organic textures. Underpinning all her work is a drawing practice which remains at the core of investigating and representing the spaces she inhabits and draws inspiration from.
