“With my art I would like to search for expressive “Character heads” – but I don’t use people as a model here, but vintage cars. I capture these in photorealistic paintings based on my own templates in order to bring out their characteristic “facial features” and capture them in a kind of portrait painting in which the background and lighting situation are also very important part. In a way, this creates a kind of “ancestral gallery” of road traffic and a personal collection of the “heroes” of my childhood, which I record meticulously – the viewer is invited to explore them!”
