I’m an artist and printmaker/based in Norwich in the U.K. My work explores the built environment and how we respond the places and spaces we encounter.
Architecture plays a prominent role in my work. The juxtaposition of differing built structures and the shadows they cast in their relationship to each other, is an endless source of fascination.
More recently, the architectural elements have been joined by a range of other references taken from a back catalogue of thousands of photographs and memories, or informed by the many ideas I’ve encountered in my extensive art history research.
As a printmaker, I have a range of techniques and processes at my disposal and I like to combine these together in my images. I make choices over what technique to use for which element as I work to construct the image I‘ve already seen in my head.
Perhaps unusually for a printmaker, I prefer to make one-off original prints rather than work in editions, so each one is unique and largely unrepeatable. I teach printmaking and art history, and have my own printmaking studio in the heart of Norwich.
