RHEA THIERSTEIN

Rhea Thierstein is an internationally renowned British Artist and Creative Director whose practice probes the beauty in imagination and memories, creating new experiences for her audiences. She employs everyday materials to explore and push their boundaries in a handcrafted aesthetic, using narrative to stimulate an emotional response to her work.

With delicacy, beauty and often a surprisingly dark undertone Rhea’s work has been seen on a multitude of platforms crossing over in to moving image, stills photography, costume and immersive theatre.

Growing up in the South of England, her connection with nature was nurtured from an early age, with entomology and magnifying tiny moments a recurring theme in her artwork.

Rhea contributed work to an all female group show for Saatchi and Saatchi (London) and was commissioned to create an art installation at the Natural History Museum (London) for its Venom exhibition. She was also chosen by Hermès to be featured in their Artist Windows in the UK, Ireland and Dubai on a number occasions and was named as one of London’s 10 fastest-rising creatives by The Business of Fashion.

By virtue of her reputation, Rhea was subsequently offered the task of Creative Practitioner for Performance, School of Media and Communication at The London College of Fashion (University of the Arts) in 2014 for two-and-a-half years. She is now a visiting lecturer there as well as a number of Arts Universities across the UK.

Rhea continues to live and work in London.
