After graduating with a Fine Art Degree specialising in painting, I undertook a PGCE in Art Education and went on to teach Art, Design and Textiles in secondary education for 20 years. This brought me so much joy, fulfillment and huge inspiration from my fabulous and fantastically creative students. I have recently made the move away from teaching in order to concentrate on the development of my own professional art practice. Although I have been involved in art in one way or another all my life (my father was a painter and I inherited his handmade easel, which I still treasure and use) I consider myself to be an emerging artist.

Whilst originating from the North East where I spent my early life and began my teaching career, I have also lived and worked in the South West for a large part of my life. I taught in Wiltshire and Bristol and lived on the Dorset/Somerset border. Prior to becoming a teacher, I also lived and worked in Devon – this is also where my partner lives and we now divide our time between the two areas.

I have a real affinity with the land and when not working in my garden studio, can be found tending my garden and observing the beauty of nature in all it’s glory.  Look out on Instagram for shots of my garden throughout the seasons.
