With my work I do try and truly capture the person who is the focal point of the piece. By capturing, having a likeness is paramount but so is their personality and any inner dialog they may be having in the scene. Using countless layers of paint to highlight planes of the face and using colour, light and shadow to bring out all aspects of their physicality and to add a meatiness to the painting.
