Creating these pieces allows me to process and express how my internal thought life evolves while the external world moves forward with little regard for our journeys. I am fascinated by plants and the valuable lessons they teach us through their cultivation—or lack thereof. Just as plants can grow wild when left unattended or thrive in a nurturing environment, our thought lives are often influenced by the intentional care we provide, much like tending to a garden.
The cheerful color choices serve to contrast the emotions expressed in my work, ideally conveying a sense of hopefulness and even a touch of optimism. For me, color composition is just as important as subject composition; color guides the viewer on an emotional journey through the artwork.
